The first fresh smell of spring in the air always rejuvenates me. I like to step outside on the first beautiful day, close my eyes letting the sunshine hit my face, then take the deepest breath I can and let that fresh air and smell just sink into my soul. There’s so much about spring I love from the flowers busting out of the ground announcing the beauty of Mother Nature to cruising down the county road with the windows down and the tunes up.
The last few months I’ve been blessed with the chance to get back to my roots and enjoy some farm life. Every weekend I wake up early ready to hit the pasture and see a bunch of adorable baby calves being born, along with playing in the rain and mud. I've loved introducing my granddaughter to something I held so dear to my heart as a child.
I think I bought Thea her very first pair of rubber boots before she could even walk and now she wears them on the daily no matter where she goes along with her newest obsession, LIPGLOSS, courtesy of Dusty. It has made me realize that rubber boots make quite the fashion statement and is a pretty big staple on the farm and ranch. Besides the rubber boots for me it’s a baseball cap just like so many females who are just trying keep their hair tamed. I do remember being a kid and it was a scarf for most woman because back then it took a lot to have a good hair day and you didn’t wash your hair every day.

I’m also finding a renewed appreciation for that farm truck going at a snail’s pace down the road holding a busy girl up. I use to say it must be nice to live such a slow life before I realized he probably owns the property on both sides of the highway and is carefully checking over his herd. After months of cold and seeing how no matter what the temperature or road conditions are that farmer will be going to tend to the herd. Spring offers them a reprieve to all the hard work winter brought. After forty years being off the family farm, I’m so thankful to have it in back in my life, God has been very good in blessing me in so many ways.
I would like to share a few of my cherished photos of spring so far. I hope you enjoy them and thank you Dusty Kalberloh for bring the country back to this country girl.
